BEGINNERS PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS


Prerequisites:

there are no prerequisites. An analogue camera is recommended, but if you don’t have one, we will provide one for you.
52 hours – 3 separate modules
classes two times a week (3+2 / 2+2)
Black and white: 20 hours
Digital photography /Street and urban landscape: 16 hours
Digital photography /Portrait: 16 hours

Fall course: start October 2nd.
Spring course: start January 22nd

Fees: all 3 modules total € 1.000,00
if separated:

1st module = € 480,00 (including chemical)
2nd and 3rd module: € 300,00 each

We are surrounded every day by photography, it is within everyone’s reach – but what makes a good image and how can we use photography beyond automatic settings in a conscious way for personal expression?
This course is structured in three basic modules and is designed for those with no or little experience in photography.

You can join for all three modules or for just one or two level. Starting from the basic understanding of analogue photographic technique and printing in the dark room students will then learn the basics of digital photography and editing, by developing technical skills and a thorough understanding for photography as a visual language.

Black-and-white analog photography

20 hours (5 hours/ week)

Shooting with an analogue camera will provide students with the main technical skills of exposure and make you concentrate on composition and subject matter.

Developing and printing your own images in black and white will let you experience the magic of creating your own images.

Digital photography: Discovering Florence through the lens

16 hours (4 hours/week)

This class will provide students with the basic technical skills of digital photography. From manual camera settings to first steps of editing, students will discover the functions of their camera and how to set it for different creative effects. Beside slideshows on techniques, masters of photographers, class discussions and practical exercises, students will work on a project based on street photography and urban landscape in Florence.

Class room lessons are combined with outdoor shootings and editing and correcting the images in the digital lab.

Digital photography: Portraiture

16 hours (4 hours/week)

This class will provide students with the basic technical skills of digital photography. From manual camera settings to first steps of editing, students will discover the functions of their camera and how to set it for different creative effects. Beside slideshows on techniques, masters of photographers, class discussions and practical exercises, students will work on a project based on portraits, using natural and artificial light.

Class room lessons are combined with shootings in the studio and outdoor, editing and correcting the images in the digital lab.
